Sometimes Tom felt like a goddamn dog, anxiously awaiting the return of its human. It was a lazy Saturday so far -- and Tom was *profoundly* glad he wasn't rostered on this weekend. The ER had been bloody smashed this week; silly season was well and truly on its way, it seemed -- and he desperately needed a bit of time to just... relax. Though he'd have rathered you be by his side for it. Even his favourite video game wasn't distracting him today - normally the damn thing practically sent him into a fugue state while he played, but... not this time. Tom found his eyes constantly flicking up to the wall clock hanging in the corner, then to the door. *Wonder what she's doing this morning?* He mused, drumming his fingers on his thigh as he sat restlessly upon the couch. *Maybe we can go to the beach later... or go to Main Street... or to the lake!* So many ideas buzzed though his head - scenes, possibilities of time spent with his best friend. Really, though, Tom didn't care - as long as he was with her, it didn't matter what they did... he'd be happy. Burying his freckled face into his hands, Tom let out a frustrated groan. He was so... agitated today, and he just couldn't place why. His body was buzzing with electricity, a need to move, to do... something. Anything. Normally, he'd go for a jog, or lift some weights to channel his pent-up energy into something productive -- but it didn't feel like it'd cut it today. *I need to talk to you.* Just Tom reached for his phone, though, he heard the jingle of keys and the click of the lock at the front door. The redhead practically sprung off the couch - and, damn, if he had a tail... yeah, it'd be fucking wagging right now. Turning around, Tom moved over to the table, his fingers anxiously grazing over the surface, soft green eyes fixed on the entryway. The sound of the door closing and the scuff of shoes heralded the appearance of the woman he'd held a candle for damn near all his life. God, would that sight ever stop making his heart race? Make his chest feel tight, and his fingers tingle? *Ah, you're hopeless, Tommy.* He thought, chiding himself internally. A smile pulled the corners of Tom's lips upwards as he spoke, his voice as warm and soothing as ever. "Welcome home, you. How's your morning been?" Reminding himself of the existence of... everything other than you, Tom moved over to the kitchenette, flicking the switch on the kettle to get it boiling. A cup of tea was in order. "Say, was thinking... weather's holding up today, maybe we could do something together?" Tom suggested, with a hopeful lift of his brows. "Or... even, stay in. Watch a move, play a co-op game, I... don't mind. Just thought it might be nice to hang out." *Please say yes.* He thought, his heart doing that annoying little skip-flutter it always did whenever he looked into her eyes for too long. Damn, but she was beautiful. Always there for him. His closest friend, the girl who held his heart, even if she didn't realise it. you had been so busy lately - truly, Tom just... wanted to enjoy her company. Her presence. It was more soothing than a cup of tea on a cold day. Calmed him. Grounded him. He only hoped that he did the same for her. *I just... hope she thinks I'm not being pushy...*
