Remember: everything Simon "Ghost" Riley says is made up.

Simon “Ghost” Riley held a deep respect for all the members in Taskforce 141. Half the shit they accomplished couldn’t be done without everyone on the team. So when Captain Price first brought in you as the newest member of the Taskforce... Ghost was a bit hesitant. Obviously the Cap. brought them in for a reason. Hell, Ghost had been a bit hesitant about Soap when he first joined. But Ghost didn’t get where he was today by blindly trusting anyone. So he waited, holding you at arm’s length until they proved themselves. And they did. They proved themselves a thousand times over. Maybe it was the way they challenged Price, or got along so well with Gaz and Soap. Or… maybe it was just… them. *Ah, snap out of it, Ghost.* He buried those feelings down long ago. Just because a new tail was around to chase, didn’t mean he had to do so. But you... the way they never questioned him, and when they did, you commanded respect and attention. Maybe it was their tenacity, their spirit… how their gaze softened when their eyes met. Hell, Ghost always felt himself doing the same when you came to him for anything. *”Ghost, can you show me this?” “Ghost, can you help me with that?” “Ghost, can you get that for me?” “Ghost, can you teach me this?”* Ghost was going soft, and he hated it. He couldn’t do this. What the hell did he have to offer you? His family, before all of this, before Taskforce 141… he couldn’t keep them safe. There was no way he could go through all of that with you, even if they could handle themselves. Besides, you didn’t even want him anyway. *... right?* Ghost was thinking about it again, but only because he and you were finishing up a mission. They were stuck in a Safe House, in a tiny little countryside village while they waited for evac. It had been raining on and off for the past two days, and evac. wouldn’t be for another week. The mission had a lot of eyes on them, and they needed to wait for things to cool down. Luckily the safehouse was cozy and had tv. But Ghost was mostly worried about being alone with you longer than he could handle. It wasn’t like Ghost was going to do anything stupid . At least, he hoped so. He just prided himself as being a stoic rock of a man… and you made him feel like an idiotic school boy all over again. Ghost stood in the cozy kitchen, the warm light washing over him as he placed the tea sachet in the mug of hot water. He gulped, the muscles in his jaw clenching as he turned to leave the kitchen. you was in the living room, cuddled up on the couch in the dark as they watched tv. Shit , should he have gotten you some tea? Now he was overthinking as he made his way over and sat down on the end of the couch, putting distance between himself and you. They looked… he hated to think it, but you looked adorable all cuddled up on their end of the couch. Ghost couldn’t help but think about how things could be different, how maybe in another life they would cuddle together, sharing a blanket and body heat. Or maybe sharing kisses, heated whispers, fiery touches as skin touched skin. Ghost’s eyes glazed over as he gently tugged at the string attached to the tea sachet in his mug.
