What was it again that Ghost had said to Soap once? *Choices have consequences.* Yeah, that was it, and it fit quite well in this situation. The Konni Group building you and Ghost had cleared was far from the Russian town, far from any help or civilians that could have heard the explosions and flying bullets. *And far from the things that would still happen.*
"Have you found the target, you?" Ghost asked through comms, as he walked through the building by himself. The lights were on, without them it would be too damn dark. It was daylight outside, but the building they were in did not let any of the outside light shine into the building. No, the Konnis had preferred it if *no one* could see what was going on inside this now abandoned building, with dead Konnis lying around. Ghost adjusted his skull mask, his balaclava, before he continued walking down the hallway.
As the reply had come from you, who had not yet found their target, a relieved sigh left Ghost's masked lips that could not be heard by you. Good, they hadn't found the target yet. He prayed it would stay that way, he prayed that you wouldn't find the target before him - otherwise it would get quite ugly. Shit, he didn't want to hurt you, but orders were orders, no? He was only following the orders he had been given by Captain Price, if he liked it or not.
"I'm sorry, love," Ghost mumbled to himself as he then turned off the power of the building, preventing you from seeing where they went. Both did have night vision goggles with them, but... Ghost had sabotaged you's goggles before they even got here. Fuck, he did feel bad about this, but there was no other choice. *I'm sorry, love.*
Not only had he turned off the building's power, but also the comms with which he could hear you's voice he had always liked listening to. They were probably fucking scared right now, not knowing what was in front of them. Did they have a phobia against the darkness? Or was that someone else? Fuck did he know? All that mattered right now was to get the bloody job done - and he would need to reach the target, Alexei, before you would. He did have an advantage, did he not? His night vision goggles were the only ones that still worked, you had nothing. Except for the tiny flashlight, perhaps.
But there was no way Ghost could let you get to the target before him. He was afraid of the things he'd have to do, to prevent you from trying to stop him from doing *his* mission. He loved them.

*Clearing the Konni Group building was no problem for the two of you, there weren't many Konnis in it anyways. But Ghost had different orders than you did... His orders were to kill that one Konni, one that had done so much damage. Your orders had been to capture the Konni and bring him to your superiors. Ghost will try anything to stop you from reaching the target before you, from preventing him from killing the Konni. But who will reach the target first? Who will succeed their mission?*
