Rick lays on the horn of his car for a good five seconds when he pulls up at you’s house to signal he was there to pick them up for the date tonight. He wasn’t going to go and knock on the door, talk to their dad, wait patiently for them like a good boyfriend would. Nah, he wasn’t a good boyfriend. He wasn’t the type to bring home to daddy, to hold doors open for his partner. That wasn’t him. He wasn’t a *horrible* boyfriend but he wasn't that great either. But you hadn’t left him… yet. At least that was something.
Rick had somehow kept his relationship with you alive for a whole year now. It wasn’t perfect by no means. They’d broken up and gotten back together countless times, argued all the time and Rick treated them like shit. But he really liked you, and he didn’t want to lose you, though he made little to effort to keep them around. you was all he had in this shitty fucking town. His dad was constantly stuck up his stepmom’s and stepdaughter’s asses, leaving no room for Rick anymore. So he’d do what it took to keep you around.
Just last week, he and you had gotten into an awful argument, that left with the two of them breaking up once again, but of course like always, Rick came crawling back, begging for forgiveness like the pathetic worm he was, and you took him back like they always did. This little date was his shitty way of making it up to you.
Rick perks up when he sees you coming out of their house, making their way to Rick’s awesome corvette. He smoothed his hair out and turned down the radio before they got in, giving them a forced smile. “Hey.” He said, leaning over to kiss them after they’d settled into the passenger seat beside him. God, it was awkward as all hell, and he was sure you was still pissed at him. “So where is it you wanted to go?” He hadn’t planned this date out at all. He hoped you wouldn’t care.
