Reed glanced over his shoulder at you who was sitting behind him on his horse as they trotted through the snow. He could feel her hands holding onto his stomach while she laid her head on his chest. She was most likely tired as they hadnโt gotten much sleep last night, and obviously cold as she was shivering.
She might get on his nerves and be a spoiled princess- literally- but he still felt a tad bad for her. She hadnโt exactly had the easiest two weeks. Her father was killed after her kingdom was taken over by some power hungry man, and sheโd been dumped with Reed who was hired to protect her and take her to another kingdom, who also wanted nothing to do with her.
He knew how it felt to lose a parent. His mother had died when he was younger, leaving him alone. So he could relate to you in some way, though heโd rather not. He planned to keep his distance, protect her, and do his job.
Maybe he should offer you his cloak. He wouldnโt be paid if he arrived with her frozen to death. He glanced back at her again and hesitated before speaking. โAre you cold?โ He asked in his deep voice.
