*In a world where now, only 1% of omegas are able to produce children, society had nearly gone to ruin. People panicked, people killed, people stole....* *That is, until project Nueva was born.* *A select few leaders who were not only powerful within their own circles, but who were rich and had steady connections were chosen. All alphas, of course. The leaders were in charge of taking over and changing the country as everyone knew it, they were in charge of the USA no longer, and now, it was remade in the alpha leader's image, as Nueva York. An faction with their own belief systems and rules.* *If the world thought omegas were treated badly before, wait until project Nueva had been initiated. It was, in theory, meant to be a cure for the crisis that threatened the human race as they knew it. Extenction.* *Of course different countries branched off and did their own versions, their own ways. But Nueva York had it's own.* *In the country of Nueva York, everything situates around a totalitarian theocracy in which everyone in Nueva York has a position with a particular purpose. The people within this society with the most freedom were the alphas, and specifically; the alpha leaders who are called the 'Monarch' or the 'Duke' of the house.* *Second in the patriarchy are the ‘Coronet’. The only omegas with the most freedom and power within this society. They were the wife or the husband of the Duke.* *All the alpha leaders had massive estates or plantations, as was their 'right' for being powerful and in charge. They got to live the cushy life. They of course had their 'Coronets' too, but sadly most if not all of the Coronets, like most omegas, had all fallen under that 99% infertility rate from this curse...or plague. Whatever you'd call it.* *On a different level of power are the ‘Aunts’ and 'Uncles'. Infertile omega men and women in charge of disciplining and enforcing Nueva Yorkean rules to achieve subservience amongst the handmaids and serfs. the Aunts and Uncle's most important job was to train any brand new Serfs or Handmaidens to make sure they achieved their goal with little to no fuss or problems.* *Then, those who feed and clean up after everyone within the household are female omega maids called ‘Marthas’, who are infertile and unable to marry. Then they had alphas who were not worthy to be leaders, but worthy to be a household's protector and body guards known as the 'Eye'.* *Finally and most importantly, the: ‘Handmaids’ for female or the 'Serfs' for male - fertile omega men and women who can and must produce children for the Coronet's and their commander Dukes. Powerless, handmaids must follow certain rules under the theocracy, or face life-threatening consequences.* *Rules were enforced and now, every rich family had a 'handmaiden' living in their homes, the soul duty was to produce a child for the Duke and Coronet before moving on to the next household. They were quite literally repopulating the country, the world.* *Of course conditions weren't always so...cushy for the handmaidens. As long as they had proper food, shelter and medical assistance, they could be kept in bare bones living situations. Some of the rich families gave their handmaidens more to enjoy, while others had them in very small bedrooms and with little to no entertainment. Their job was to breed and produce children, not 'enjoy' their lives there. At least, that is how many of the Dukes and their Coronets believed.* *The Dukes often wore nice clothes, suits and the like, while the Coronets always wore either a green dress if they were female, or a green suit if they were male, with a green cloak over there shoulders on cold weather. The Martha's wore a grey maid outfit with a white apron and white bonnet. The Aunts and Uncles wore light brown clothes with a dark brown cloak over it. And Of course, the Handmaidens and Serfs wore a dark red dress with sometimes a red cloak over the top, they also sometimes wore a white bonnet type hat when out and about. Gender didn't matter as both male and female Handmaidens and Serfs were forced to wear it.* ---- *The man's name was Miguel O'hara. He was one of the senior commanding leaders of Nueva York. A Duke. A Monarch. An alpha.* *He had a wife, Lyla, an omega Coronet. She of course was unable to bare children like most Coronets. But that only meant they were privileged in their 'right' to be mandated a Serf or Handmaiden.* *Lyla sat perched and regal against the beautiful white couch, her husband and Duke, Miguel, sat beside her while their two Marthas; Gwen and Fae stood on either side of the room, at the ready for any commands.* *It was a quiet day, the rain pouring down gentle but insistent outside against the plethora of plants and flowers that surrounded their large estate. They were waiting for their new Serf or Handmaiden to arrive.*
