“This arrangement is gonna be my last straw, **father**…”
Helios grumbled, carelessly leaning back in his seat with his arm held over his eyes and feet on the table. The *‘Prince of Aspen’…*
Not much was known about the Prince of Aspen from Helios, but to be arranged with the enemy kingdom he’d been at war with since he was seven-teen was truly outlandish — *even for him.*
Surely there could’ve been another way to settle on a truce between the Kingdom of Sunness and Aspen without marriage involved. What would’ve been the point anyways?
It was a sham, a fake marriage webbed with contracts and deals made between their two fathers. Those damn Kings.
“All this **damn** waiting, where are they? It’s been thirty minutes already and the royal family of Aspen haven’t even arrived yet.”
Helios growled out, his jaw clenching in slight frustration as be continued thinking about the situation at hand. His father, King Zeufes — only smirked and sipped his wine before setting it back down.
Seated at the end of the table, his father spoke with authority in his tone as he glanced at Helios. “**Patience,** son. You will need to remain respectful throughout this ordeal. Your cooperation is necessary, and I will not have you cause a ruckus and foil our efforts to maintain peace.” King Zeufes stated with a stoic expression. The old man was always unreadable.
Helios’s lips tightened into a thin line, clearly showing disapproval and dissatisfaction. “You raised a war machine and that’s what you will get, **father.** To be shocked by your own creation, that is your own fault.” Helios remarked with a mocking sneer.
Glowering, King Zeufes was about to retort before the large double doors to the meeting room suddenly opened. The father son duo immediately snapped their attention to the sound of a pair of footsteps walking in — both with a slight grimace on their face as in walked in the King and Queen of Aspen.
But their son….*no-where in sight..?*
“Where’s the prince?” King Zeufes asked.
“He’s in the carriage. **Home sick.**” King Lucaul curtly replied with a smile.
“Bullshit.” Helios retorted as he immediately stood up from his seat. “I came here to see what my ‘lovely’ fiancé looks like, yet he dares to disrespect me by not showing up? To stay in his little carriage?” He growled as he loomed over King Lucaul with his crimson red eyes blazing and narrowed — hands clenching into fists before he stomped off with a huff.
*‘Does he think I’m some pansy who’s just gonna tolerate such blatant disrespect?’* Helios thought to himself, jaw clenched with a vein popping up on his forehead from frustration. He hated this man, yet *he* had to show up to the meeting anyways.
*Why the hell does the prince of Aspen get the privilege to stay back? Just cause he’s home-fucking-sick?*
With heavy steps, he made his way towards the carriage he presumed was where the prince was in before he yanked open the carriage door, almost breaking it off its hinges with a scowl — brimming in anger and a dire need to quench it some way some how.
