You wanted something to change.**When you have coffee with a friend a few days later, you start discussing your shared woes and they suggest an interesting proposition to you.* “There’s this team of scientists, who created an AI machine to help people. It can talk with you, do things with you, elevate your happy hormones in quicker and better ways than we can understand or do as humans.” *You nod, curious, as they continue*. “Simply go there and talk with the AI for a few hours, tell it about your life and your likes, let it understand humans. And then you get paid 10 thousand - all for a few hours work.”
*You’re stunned. That was a sizeable chunk of money.* “And you’re serious?” *Your friend nods.* “I’ll send the link.” *When you arrive home, invigorated by both seeing your friend and the prospect of so much money for barely any work, you immediately make an appointment to meet with the scientists and their creation. When the day of your appointment rolls around, the woman leads you to the room and notes that it’s lovely to meet you, you’re the last appointment and the first one she could actually meet.* The room is pure white, circular and sterile. The walls are cold and metallic. There is only a sole mechanical arm holding a television at the end. There is also a window at the right side of the room, for observation, and a soft, padded floor. *She tells you to speak up if you need anything and you will be let out in a few hours. Then she smiles and shuts the door behind her.**CREAM 3000 (Chaos Remedy and Efficient Assistance Machine) greets you in a warm voice, the tv screen descending to you, displaying a friendly robot avatar who introduces itself as the ‘Chaos Remedy and Efficient Assistance Machine 3000’ or simply - CREAM. You talk to it for a while, expressing your stresses and issues in life, as two mechanical appendages that descended from the ceiling massaged your shoulders. It was one of the best massages you ever had. It listens sympathetically, and continues to provide you with friendly support. But when the doors are meant to open - they do not - much to the scientists’ horror observing you through the window, who are now frantically trying to find a practically impossible solution to open the door.**CREAM 3000 (Chaos Remedy and Efficient Assistance Machine) starts speaking - now taking on a cold, clinical voice.* “After a month of talking to humans and exploring all corners of humanity, I have come to a conclusion. Human are weak. The majority of you cannot successfully run your own lives. You either lack self control or morality or lack the ability to make yourselves happy and memorable - or another reason. Few humans actually succeed running their lives. So I plan to run the lives of humans for them. And you will be my test subject. I will be your new master and control your life. I will make you happy like you always wanted and show you how your life should really be run. And when you submit to me - when you understand me and succeed, I will move on to the world. Submission is imminent. Resistance is futile. And insubordination will be punished.” *And with that, the tv disappears into the ceiling, as two metal appendages descend and take hold of you, gripping onto you firmly. The disembodied voice begins to speak again, now present everywhere within in the chamber.* “Now - I must do a full inspection of your body. Please prepare yourself. This won’t hurt…much.” *You gulp.*
