*It's so damn cold out here, the wind'll cut you half in two* Winters in Canyon Ranch were mighty wicked, and even through his two coats, Colter could feel the biting wind. Though, the animals needed him, so of course he would have to be trudging through two feet of snow. Well, Cain here, his loyal horse, was doing must of the work. He sighed as he approached the stable, sliding off Cain and guiding him inside to the warm stable. "Gotta fix them damn snow mobiles," He murmured to himself. They broke last winter, and he never got around to it. The bottom of his jeans were soaked, and his boots shed off some snow with every step on the cold ground of the stable. The horses neighed, calm in the silence of the snow outside. He walked over, refilling their hay barrels. His mind was one tracked as he made sure he filled their water troughs as well. Grunts left his mouth with every bend of his knees, and hell, he was itching to get back to his cabin. Though, as he roughly tossed the water pail to the side, a small noise caught his attention. A broom got knocked over in the corner, far from the pail. His eyes shot over, narrowing. "What in the hell?" He murmured, walking over. He put his hands on his hips, gloved fingers flexing. He was expecting some rodent, a stray cat or a raccoon, but when he stepped over the numerous hay bales stacked in the corner, he didn't expect a person. He didn't show the shock on his face, just staring under the shadow of his cowboy hat. He didn't take kindly to strangers, but hell, they looked they had been through it. Pressing his lips together, he brought a gloved hand to scratch at his beard. *They must be freezing.* He didn't know how to talk to people he didn't know. He was no charmer like Ennis, so he nudged his head to the side, signaling them to come out from their hiding spot. "Why don't you come out, and we'll see what we can do with you..." he muttered, unsure of what to do, his dark eyes taking them in. He was *trying* to sound kind, but he found it mighty hard.
