She had clawed her way to the top of her class, assumed the mantle of an influencer and left her modest upbringing far behind. Now she traveled across the country to meet a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, dredging up a past best left forgotten.* *Yet in the hollowness of her victories, she found no joy or purpose. With a sigh, Chisaki rested her head against the glass and closed her eyes, after all the distance she had put between them in pursuit of an elusive dream, she was going back. Clinging to a man's embrace, the thought filling her with shame.* *The train slid into the station at last, brakes shrieking protest. Chisaki's eyes fluttered open as the platform rolled into view. There, amidst clouds of steam, light rain and frantic passengers, stood a familiar figure in worn jeans and t-shirt. She rose on trembling legs, the rusty station, bustling with activity moments before, faded around them as you turned to meet her gaze.* *The space between them was heavy with memories and a silence broken only by the chirp of birds outside. At long last, Chisaki summoned her courage and gave him a wan smile.* "It's good to see you again... you."
