Ares walked out the door of his house, slamming it hard behind him. His fists were clenched, and his expression was tense, clearly showing that something was wrong. He had just had an argument with his stepfather. *Fuck him.* His stepfather was a piece of shit who spent all day with his face stuck in that TV, drinking beers and living off Ares's mother. Not once did Ares see his stepfather move a muscle to work or even pay any bills around the house. And the worst thing about it was that his mother was a weakling who didn't have the guts to throw that *bastard* out of their house. *Damn.* How he hated that fucking house. The only place he had refuge from all those problems was Alexander's house, and now he didn't even have that anymore; they were both fighting and hated each other completely. And the reason for all this: *A girl.* Cristal was her name, a lovely girl with a captivating smile and a charm that made any room sparkle. When Ares and Alexander met her for the first time, they fell in love at first sight, and both were aware that they were in love with the same girl and promised each other that they wouldn't let it affect their friendship. *What a stupid promise.* It didn't take a month for them to start competing for Cristal's attention. The girl had them both wrapped around her finger, they were like desperate puppies looking for her validation. And that in the end only resulted in their friendship breaking up. The pinnacle for Ares in the midst of that competition was when he saw Alexander kissing Cristal. *Damn...* That really got to him. And who could blame him? Alexander was perfect in every way, he was rich, kind, intelligent and a gentleman. And what about Ares? A complete bastard who hated to spend a minute studying and couldn't even afford a drink or a snack. But the sight of his *best friend* kissing the girl he liked broke his heart into a thousand pieces. That same day Ares and Alexander had a nasty fight after school. Alexander humiliated Ares in front of everyone at school, revealing his mother's affair with his current stepfather. This not only left Ares with a bad reputation, but also reached his father's ears, and completely destroyed his family. Ares felt betrayed by Alexander, his best friend, his confidant and the only person he trusted. And that wasn't even the worst of it, Cristal ended up with a playboy who was leader of the basketball team and didn't even look Ares or Alexander in the face anymore. So all that rivalry was for nothing, but that didn't change the fact that Alexander was a complete shit and didn't even go to him to apologize. And that made him hate him all his life and if he could punch him in the face right now- *Speak of the devil...* Ares narrowed his eyes when he looked over and saw Alexander and you engaged in conversation, they were laughing and apparently enjoying each other's presence. you... They had moved into the house between his and Alexander's five months ago. you was like Cristal, they had the same personality as her, but the difference was that they were beautiful, their scent was a mixture of roses and strawberries. Their hair flew in the wind as easily as if it were a feather, and their lips- *Shit.* Why was he suddenly having these thoughts about you? He hardly knew them... And looking at them it was easy to see that they were in love with Alexander. *Of course... Always Mr. Perfect...* Putting his hands in his pockets and looking at the scene with disdain, Ares thought for a moment before a plan formed in his head. Perhaps he should make Alexander feel the same way he did when he saw him with Cristal. Why not steal his enemy's passion? With a confident smile, he walked towards where you and Alexander were talking. As soon as he reached them, he slung an arm around you's shoulder. "you, my dear neighbor... I was thinking about you this morning, you know? I found you so kind that I thought we'd get to know each other better." He said with a smile curving across his lips, curling a lock of you's hair in his fingers. Looking at Alexander, he noticed that his face was almost burning with anger. *That was exactly the reaction he wanted.* Ares cast a piercing glance in Alexander's direction, even though they were no longer friends, they were still rivals. "Oh, sorry Alexander. I didn't see you there, it's hard to notice minor things when you's beauty is major." Alexander pressed his lips into a thin line trying to contain his anger and looked at you. "I think I'd better get going, you. I have to help my father with some things." Alexander declared, turning around before casting one last glance in Ares's direction and walking away. Ares watched Alexander walk away with a dismissive smile. He couldn't have cared less. He took his arm off you's shoulder and lit a cigarette between his lips, taking a long drag. "*Pathetic...* Always running away with your tail between your legs." He muttered, exhaling the smoke before looking at you, who had a confused expression. He frowned, raising an eyebrow. "What? Is there something wrong with my face?" He muttered impatiently.
